Life in Mykonos
Mykonos has become synonymous with cosmopolitan and hedonistic Summer parties, giving Ibiza a real run for it’s money and in many ways it feels like the up-to-date version of adult fun for the less budget conscious reveller. Without a doubt, Mykonos is a show stealer and the place to be for a boho-chic atmosphere in Europe.
Of course the island has a lot to offer but it’s maybe not the place to come and experience traditional Greek life, rather a pit-stop to fuel up on the latest Off-White, Palm Angels and Balenciaga gear and do your thing at Scorpios. You get the idea and we’ll tell you all about it in our Mykonos shopping and beach club reviews.
We’ve also got a bit of a crush on Mykonos at Müd and it’s one of our current favourite holiday destinations with its whitewashed houses, hip beach clubs, rocky landscapes, luxury boutique hotels, superb sunsets and cosmopolitan nightlife.
Boheme Mykonos Hotel
It’s one of those islands where it can all feel a bit too much a bit too easily, which is when Boheme Mykonos Hotel enters the scene. Beautifully calm and chic, understated yet offering all one needs and just steps away from Mykonos Town and its many temptations.
Offering discreet luxury in a small, intimate environment, Boheme Mykonos Hotel is unashamedly stylish. The hotel’s vibe can be described as a fusion of modern bohemian luxe and Cycladic tradition. An old hotel has been turned into a handsome hilltop hideaway with whitewashed walls, wooden shutters, bold graphic print fabrics, retro lighting and funky 50s-style Acapulco chairs. The scent of herbs from the herb garden hangs in the air (guests are invited to pick a bunch and hand over to the onsite Bilo bar mixologists for a surprise cocktail!), while bowls of lemons and limes dotted around the property complement the colour scheme beautifully.
Suites in Boheme Mykonos
The suites are fairly compact but contain all the amenities you might ever need, including Acqua di Parma bath products and cosy robes for lounging on your balcony or terrace. Some of the suites also have private jacuzzis overlooking the rocky hills and Aegan sea, offering the perfect spot for a sunset dip and cocktail. Breakfast is served on the terrace at a time of your choosing. Service at Boheme Mykonos always feels genuine, timely and comes delivered with a smile and some good humour. In fact, before our stay, we were asked what level of service we would prefer and as discreet was the request, discreet it was.
The hotel restaurant
The hotel restaurant whips up very decent food throughout the day, with the menu concentrating on comforting classics plus a few Greek twists thrown in, best for a horizontal late lunch graze by the lovely pool. The Bilo bar offers fantastic sunset views and some well made drinks.
Other services
There is also a small outdoor gym and yoga spot in the garden and spa treatments and al fresco massages are available at Boheme Mykonos. The concierge will also arrange any bookings at restaurants and beach clubs, most of which are only a short taxi ride away.
