Once in the not so distant past, I decided to split what would’ve been a very long distance flight by stopping over in Dubai. I had been there once before, several years ago, so I had already seen its architectural marvels, done the desert safari, gone shopping in the old souk and the new malls with ski resorts and all. This time I decided to use my few days on exploring what the Dubai has to offer on living the good life. Think beach clubs, hotel pools and rooftop bars. Here’s how to enjoy life in an insta-friendly setting in Dubai.
Party or lounge the day away at Zero Gravity beach club
If you want to party, go on a Friday or Saturday for the “brunch”. The cost was around 70 USD which included a sun lounger (first come, first served) and unlimited food and drinks. I have to say I’ve never been to a buffet so good, versatile and expansive, so I found it well worth it. If you don’t feel like partying but want to chill and enjoy the beautiful venue and pool not so jam-packed, go on the other days of the week when the entry fee is around 35 USD, part of which is redeemable against food and drinks.
Get a day pass to Address Dubai Marina hotel pool
This pool area has a stunning setting with a big infinity pool overlooking a typical Dubai skyline of all skyscrapers. You’ll feel like you’re swimming in the sky. The atmosphere was laid-back and sophisticated. A day pass was around 50 USD, half of which redeemable against food and drinks.
Walk around Dubai Marina
Admire the yachts, marvel at the amount and scale of the skyscrapers and get those ultimate Dubai backdrops for your photos. Wander along the promenade for different angles of the ever-impressive skyline and maybe visit the mall and restaurants.
Go for drinks at Level 43 Sky Lounge
As the name suggests, this is a rooftop bar on the 43rd floor. Get a table by the edge of the terrace and enjoy the view of the cityscape over drinks. Watch the sun set as the buildings start to sparkle with lights and see the traffic rushing through the golden veins of the city.
